PROFESSOR DR. NASSER ALI KHAN
distinguished economist, former Vice-Chancellor, and Founding Rector of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule, a flagship institution for applied sciences and technology in Pakistan.
Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, an eminent academician, holds Ph.D. in Economics. His career, spanning over forty (40) years, is marked by significant contributions to teaching, research, curriculum development, and mentorship. He has played a crucial role in establishing esteemed institutions and has profoundly influenced countless students. His unwavering commitment to education and institution building has been vital in shaping the educational landscape of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In 2003, he was appointed as Director of the Institute of Management Sciences, a self-sustaining statutory corporate facility dedicated to the teaching of business administration, public administration, information technology and related disciplines. He served the Institute as its Director during 2003-12. Under his leadership and within a short period of seven years, the Institute achieved recognition as the 4th best business school in Pakistan. This accolade positioned it as the premier business school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Institute is a vibrant platform for research, management, development programmes, consultancy services and creation and dissemination of knowledge.
In 2012, he was appointed as Member (Operations and Planning) in the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan where he made significant contribution to strategic planning and policy development, quality assurance, coordinating and overseeing more than one-hundred public and private universities. He also initiated capacity-building programs for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
In 2013, he was entrusted with responsibility to steer the University of Haripur as its Vice Chancellor. By 2017, the University was given a state-of-the-art infrastructure coupled with substantial reforms, including curriculum upgrades, laboratory enhancements and recruitment of quality faculty.
In 2017, he played a critical role in the establishment of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule- Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology to address the critical need for skilled workforce in the production sector of Pakistan. This Institute, created through international collaborations with Austria, Germany, United Kingdom and Peoples Republic of China, embodies the mission of “Skilling Pakistan” by providing high-quality technical education and research in the fields of engineering, sciences and technology. He served as Project Director and the founding Rector of the Institute and positioned it as a demand driven prime facility for teaching and research in applied sciences and technology.
