Himayat Ullah Khan studied in Aitchison College, Lahore, Edwardes College Peshawar and obtained Masters in Economics from the University of Peshawar. In 1979, he joined the Pakistan Audit & Accounts Service. He got extensive training from the Institute of Development Studies University of Sussex UK; International Agriculture Centre, Wageningen, Netherlands; and the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA. During his career of more than 42 years, he worked at senior policy formulation, regulatory and operational levels. Strategic planning, managing organizational change, leading large teams, working with public and private sectors and development partners are major highlights of his experience. As Chief Negotiator, he successfully negotiated the Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement, 2010. He remained associated with the power sector for more than 20 years and developed a deep understanding of the issues and challenges of the sector in Pakistan. Currently, he represents Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Financial Expert on the CCI Committee of Financial and Technical Experts for proposing out of box solutions for payment of Net Hydel Profits to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
