PESHAWAR — A senior delegation from the public policy think tank Advocacy for Sustainable Policy and Implementation Reforms (ASPIRE-KP), headed by Chairman Mohammad Shehzad Arbab and accompanied by executive board members, held a formal meeting with Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly Babar Saleem Swati at the Assembly Secretariat. The meeting centered on forging institutional collaboration between legislative leadership and policy experts to address the escalating fiscal challenges confronting the province. During the session, the ASPIRE-KP delegation presented a formal proposal to convene an all-party parliamentary consultative forum dedicated to formulating a unified provincial Minimum Economic Agenda.
The proposed initiative aims to bring together parliamentary leaders across the political divide to develop common ground on key provincial economic priorities, including securing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s constitutional share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, statutory net hydel profit dues, and equitable development allocations for the merged tribal districts. Speaker Babar Saleem Swati commended ASPIRE-KP’s research-driven initiatives and reiterated the assembly’s commitment to institutionalizing evidence-based inputs, underscoring that a coordinated, multi-party economic roadmap is essential to safeguarding the province’s financial autonomy and ensuring sustainable public services.
